IMPRS Workshop 2023 in Naumburg

Three days of scientific exchange and social activities in Naumburg

April 05, 2023

The IMPRS Workshop is an annual event organized by the IMPRS ProEng, designed for our doctoral researchers and their supervisors to spend three days engaging in scientific exchange and social activities. It serves as a platform for scholars to share their research, build networks, and establish friendships. This year's workshop was held in the beautiful city of Naumburg (Saale), located in the South of Saxony-Anhalt. Around 30 doctoral researchers and professors attended the workshop from March 12 - 14, 2023, presenting their recent research developments.

The first day of the workshop was dedicated to social activities, starting with an excursion to a local winery and wine tasting, where non-alcoholic options were also available. This was followed by a guided tour of Naumburg Cathedral, recognized by the UNESCO World Heritage, and renowned for its late Romanesque architecture, localized in the old medieval part of the city. It is an important landmark in Naumburg and therefore it was a must-see for us.

The following two days were dedicated to scientific exchange, with IMPRS doctoral researchers presenting talks on their current research, and new members presenting a brief introduction to their work, followed by in-depth discussions. Additionally, some researchers prepared poster sessions to delve deeper into their research and engage in more detailed discussions with peers.

The program concluded with an evening discussion, where our IMPRS doctoral researchers were given the opportunity to provide input on the program, focused on the development of the workshop and the creation of new ideas and concepts to enhance future iterations of the event.

Initial feedback on the workshop has been very positive, with participants highlighting the location, quality of the presentations, and social activities as significant positives.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the workshop, we are very much looking forward to the next one!
