Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern has headed the Department of Physical-Chemical Fundamentals of Process Engineering at the Max Planck Institute Magdeburg from 1998 to 2024 and made a significant contribution to the establishment and success of the Max Planck Institute, which was newly founded in the state capital Magdeburg in 1998. His main research focus is on new reactor concepts, heterogeneous catalysis, adsorption and chromatography and crystallization processes, novel processes for the efficient separation of mixtures of very similar molecules and sustainable and affordable processes to provide drugs which are based on natural products. more

Director emeritus of the Department Systems Theoretical Fundamentals of Process and Bioprocess Engineering

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ernst Dieter Gilles was Emeritus Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society and the Founding Director of the Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg, where he served as director from 1997 to 2008. Prof. Gilles was head of the Systems Biology research group until 2011. In 1999 he also became an honorary professor at the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg. more
