Process Synthesis and Process Dynamics

The Process Synthesis and Dynamics (PSD) group is headed by Achim Kienle, who is an external scientific member of the MPI. He also holds a professorial position at the Otto von Guericke University. The MPI and university group collaborate closely.

The PSD group is working on modeling, analyzing, and controlling complex process systems. It aims to fundamentally understand process behavior and brings additional expertise in process control. It combines process insight with methods from control theory and applied mathematics to achieve novel, efficient, and robust solutions. Fields of application are chromatographic processes, particle formation in fluidized beds, methanol synthesis, integrated processes for producing fine chemicals, and biopolymer production processes.
