Thermal Process Engineering
Major research interests
- Transport phenomena in particle systems and porous materials
- Drying
- Particle and layer formation processes (granulation, coating, agglomeration, encapsulation)
- Fluidization technology
- Discrete modeling (pore network models, CFD-DEM, Monte Carlo models, among others) and scale transition to continuous approaches (e.g., advanced species transport models, multivariate population balances)
- Morphological characterization of porous media, incl. 3D imaging
Possible research projects (not exhaustive)
- Selective pyrolysis of mixed plastic waste and biogenic residues
(Collaboration partners: Prof. Thévenin, Prof. Kienle) - Molecular design of materials for CO2 capture and/or energy storage
(Collaboration partner: Prof. Scheffler)
