Differential-algebraic Equations

Differential-algebraic equations (DAEs) are combinations of differential and algebraic equations. They are a common tool to model all kind of dynamical processes. In this lecture we discuss general aspects of the analytical and the particularly challenging numerical treatment of DAEs.

Content of the lecture:

 1. Introductory considerations
 2. General notions from DAE calculus
 3. Linear DAEs with constant coefficients
 4. Linear time-varying and nonlinear DAEs
 5. Numerical integration of DAEs
 6. Numerical Methods for index reduction
 7. DAEs with controls
