Model-based analysis of complex chromatographic processes
The project aims to fundamentally understand the dynamic behavior of chromatographic processes using nonlinear wave propagation and equilibrium theories. Theoretical results are used to develop shortcut methods for process design. Recently, the so-called double-layer simulated moving bed process was studied with Dr. Ju-Weon Lee and the PCF group as a challenging application example.
A second focus has been on moving horizon state estimation and nonlinear model predictive control of simulated moving bed processes in cooperation with Prof. Vande Wouwer from UMONS in Belgium.
