Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Shamsul Qamar was born in 1972 in the small village of district Mardan (KPK), Pakistan.  He got his basic education up to graduation level in Mardan. He did his MSc and MPhil (gold medalist) degrees in mathematics from Quaid-I-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad in 1994 and 1996, respectively. Afterwards, he joined PIEAS Islamabad as a fellow and later as a faculty member. In 2001, he moved to Germany and got PhD degree from Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg in 2003.  In year 2008, he got  “Habilitation Degree” from the same university of Germany after four years of postdoctoral teaching and research. Since January 2004 he has a continuous research collaboration with the research group of Prof. Seidel-Morgenstern at Max Planck Institute Magdeburg.  In May 2008, he joined CIIT Islamabad as an associate professor in the department of mathematics. Dr. Qamar is a renowned scientist in the field of process engineering and computational fluid dynamics.  He has above 60 international research publications in reputed ISI Journals and 14 conference proceedings. His impact factor is  above 105. Moreover, he has presented his work in 41 international conferences all over the world. 7 PhD students have completed their studies under his supervision at CIIT Islamabad and 1o more PhD students are pursuing their PhD studies under his supervision at COMSATS  Institute Islamabad. About 25 MS-students have completed their MS theses under his supervision. He  is working on different research projects at Max Planck Institute Magdeburg and COMSATS Institute Islamabad. He got several awards and fellowships from different foreign institutions. He is a regular reviewer of famous international scientific Journals.  In 2007, he got a best paper award of the year from Computers and Chemical Engineering Journal.
