Magdeburg, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt, is a vibrant hub of trade and services and offers an attractive research and science landscape around the Otto von Guericke University and the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal. About 18.000 young people study in Magdeburg. Due to the Port of Science (Wissenschaftshafen) and its Denkfabrik as well as innovative start-up centres and application-oriented research institutes, Magdeburg has made a name for itself as an innovative science and research location.
