Chemical Catalysis from Sustainable Resources

Green chemistry aims at achieving an environmentally friendly and resource-efficient production of chemicals, i.e. the use of sustainable starting materials, highly efficient catalysts and processes and green solvents. The CRC/TR 63 pursues the long-term goal of developing novel innovative phase systems for homogeneously catalysed, multiphase production processes by considering effects of ‘green chemistry’.

The hydroformylation reaction using a Rh(I)(Biphephos) catalysts of 1-dodecene as substrate with syngas (CO/H2) to produce tridecanal was investigated in detail using quantum chemical calculations. The sophisticated phosphite ligand affords a high selectivity towards the desired product.
