Laura König-Mattern funded by an Add-on Fellowship for Interdisciplinary Life Science
Fellowship from the Joachim Herz Foundation for her interdisciplinary computer-aided research on biomass and lignocellulose

Laura König-Mattern, a scientist in the Process System Engineering research group, is being funded by an Add-on Fellowship for Interdisciplinary Life Science from the Joachim Herz Foundation for her interdisciplinary computer-aided research on biomass and lignocellulose.
Laura König-Mattern studied biosystems engineering and systems engineering and technical cybernetics at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and has been conducting research as a doctoral student at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems Magdeburg on solvent selection in biorefineries since September 2019.
In 2021, she was awarded a fellowship by the Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard Foundation for the promotion of science and research.
Laura König-Mattern’s research focuses on computational methods to promote the sustainable production of chemicals from biomass. Laura develops computer-guided solvent screening and design tools, support-
ing her experimental efforts to develop lab-scale biorefinery processes.
The Joachim Herz Foundation supports with the Add-on Fellowship for Interdisciplinary Life Science PhD students from different disciplines who are working on interdisciplinary questions in the field of life sciences and related research fields.
