Dr. Matthias Stein, head of the research group Molecular Simulations and Design at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems Magdeburg, has been appointed a honorary professor at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

The certificate of appointment was awarded by the university's rector, Prof. Jens Strackeljan on 23rd January 2020. Dr. Matthias Stein received his certificate of appointment as Honorary Professor at the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg on in presence of the Dean of the faculty, Prof. Dominique Thevenin

Matthias Stein says, “I greatly appreciate the recognition of my research and hope that scientific links between the Max Planck Institute and the university will be intensified,”

The research group Molecular Simulations and Design led by Matthias Stein elucidates complex processes in chemistry and biology by performing detailed computer simulations across multiple time and spatial scales.

Dr. Matthias Stein studied chemistry at the Technical University Berlin and the University of Manchester. After research positions in Berlin, Mannheim, Stockholm and Heidelberg he started as a Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute Magdeburg in 2010.
