Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems
IMPRS for Systems and Process Engineering for a Sustainable Chemical Production
Our International Max Planck Research School SysProSus is a joint initiative of the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems and the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg. It provides high-level scientific training and supports PhD projects which investigate new methodological approaches for the systematic replacement of fossil raw materials in chemical production by renewable carbon sources, in particular biogenic residues and plastic waste.
The PhD Career Day at the Max Planck Institute in Magdeburg offered young scientists a platform to explore different career paths, network with industry experts and gain valuable insights into the job market.

IMPRS for Advanced Methods in Process and Systems Engineering
September 2007 - August 2025
18 years of successful operation are coming slowly to an end. Since 2007, we support PhD projects which combine cutting-edge mathematical and systems-oriented engineering research, are driven by challenging questions arising from the analysis, design and optimization of chemical and biochemical processes. The third and last funding period of the joint initiative from the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems and the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg will end in August 2025.
His pellet-shaped core-shell catalysts can be integrated into existing Power-to-X systems without any additional equipment. This makes them an economically attractive option for renewable energy storage on the gigawatt scale.
