Reaction and Separation Processes
Frequently several alternative separation processes can be applied to solve a certain separation problem. Hereby often one of the techniques is applicable in presence of large amounts of impurities, whereas another one provides highly pure products removing minor impurities. Further, certain techniques are more expensive than others.
In several projects the PCF group investigates systematically various possible process combinations focusing currently on the separation of enantiomers.
Future work will be devoted to develop process combinations capable to isolate efficiently biomolecules from more complex mixture originating e.g. from fermentation processes.
