Visual storytelling for scientists

Visual storytelling for scientists

The course teaches how to use visual storytelling techniques to create more engaging oral presentations. The course is focused on visuals only (and not message and delivery). We will talk about what visual storytelling is and what components we can use in "science telling", how can we structure our presentation and slides to create a unified and interesting presentation where the visuals are increasing the impact.

The course is focused on creating better scientific presentations i.e. reporting and teaching presentations, not persuasive and entertaining presentations.

More detailed schedule

The course is a blend between self-paced instruction materials and web meetings. We will meet three times (online) where the first session will be to get an introduction to the course and the assignment. The participants will also get access to all course material and will be able to book their two feedback sessions. Two weeks after the introduction session we will have a feedback session on the work in progress. We will meet in groups of six and give each other feedback during the 90 minutes long session. After that, the participants will have another week to complete the assignment before the final web meeting and exam session.
