MPI Colloquia Series: Prof. Dr. Katalin M. Hangos, Dynamics and stabilizing control of nonlinear process networks

The Max Planck Institute Magdeburg invites you to its series of colloquia. Top-class scientists, invited by the Max Planck Institute Magdeburg, give a survey of their research work. Everybody who is interested, is invited to attend.

Abstract

Process networks are highly nonlinear complex systems often with parametric uncertainties that may also have substantial delays. Therefore, they require to develop and apply robust structural methods for their dynamic analysis and control. Utilizing the special structural properties of process networks, two challenging and technically related problems will be considered. Firstly our recent results on stabilizing control of chemical reaction networks will be described both in the usual and in the time-delayed case. Thereafter, a stabilizing decentralized control scheme based on the mechanism-wide decomposed process system model will be described. Finally, the possible research directions will also be outlined.
