Abstract
On the Use of CO2 to Defossilize our Society
According
to the International Panel on Climate Change, reaching the target of
Paris agreement imposes to reduce by 95% the emissions of fossil carbon
dioxide and therefore to fuel and power our society with renewable
energy. To take the appropriate decision, a system approach that
combines the technological options is needed to identify the pertinent
technologies, required enabling infrastructures and develop synergies
between renewable energy resources. In my talk, I will demonstrate how
thermodynamic insights and process system engineering techniques can be
combined to generate the energy system of the future that allows to
defossilize our society by using local resources, man power and money
and without using the fossil resources.
