Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems

The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg is one of 83 institutes belonging to the Max Planck Society (MPG) for the Advancement of Sciences. It is also the first engineering institute established by the Max Planck Society in order to establish bridges between engineering-oriented fundamental research and industrial application. The institute has nine research groups and various scientific service groups working closely together on different interdisciplinary projects in engineering, chemistry, information technology, biology and mathematics. Currently, the institute employs about 240 people.

Around 18.000 young people study in Magdeburg. Due to the Port of Science (Wissenschaftshafen) and its Denkfabrik as well as innovative start-up centres and application-oriented research institutes, Magdeburg has made a name for itself as an innovative science and research location.
