Information for Students

The Max Planck Institute offers you the possibility of facilitating the process of writing your papers and dissertation. There are also opportunities for internships.

The Max Planck Institute is also actively involved in the development of new, future-oriented courses at the university. Together with the Faculty of Process Engineering and Systems Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, the course "Systems Engineering and Cybernetic Engineering" was successfully established. The program "Biosystems Engineering" has been created in cooperation with the faculties mentioned above, as well as the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine.

Moreover, the university's students work as scientific assistants at the Max Planck Institute or prepare their theses. Although the Otto von Guericke University, founded in 1993, is one of the youngest universities in Germany, it has a long tradition. Its roots lie in three former well-respected institutions of higher education: the Technical University, the College of Education and the Medical Academy of Magdeburg. Nowadays there are around 12,800 students enrolled in nine faculties. You can choose between 62 courses, and it is noteworthy that about 3900 students come from abroad (as of 2023).
